MY HOPE IS IN THE LORD

“HE GIVES STRENGTH TO THE WEARY AND INCREASES THE POWER OF THE WEAK. EVEN YOUTHS GROW TIRED AND WEARY AND YOUNG MEN STUMBLE AND FALL. BUT THOSE WHO HOPE IN THE LORD WILL RENEW THEIR STRENGTH. THEY WILL SOAR ON WINGS LIKE EAGLES, THEY WILL RUN AND NOT GROW WEARY, THEY WILL WALK AND NOT FAINT.” ISAIAH 40:29-31

Who am I hoping in?
Who are you hoping in?
I cannot answer the second question, only you can. But as for the first question, who am I hoping in? I remember the first week after I was born again and having accepted Christ as Lord and Saviour. I was having doubts so I asked another Christian “How do I know I am saved?” Her answer was very simple and I took it to heart and have made it the foundation of my life ever since. She said “because the Bible tells you that you are saved.”
I believe there are too many people who start out striving to do what God wants but in the end they just run out of steam. As the verse says even the youth grows tired and weary and young men stumble and fall. It is the Lord who has called us to where we are, and if we know that we know without a shadow of a doubt that we are called and we are not relying on our own strength then we will continue to trust in God, to hope in Him ‘til the end.
Many men of God have been serving for such a long time but in the end they just give up and walk away. Who called them? And what are they trusting in? On more than one occasion the people of Israel complained to Moses and said they did not want to go on but wanted to turn around and go back to where they came from. Moses, however, did not give up and did not walk away. He was even prepared to die in their place. That is how much he hoped in the Lord who had called him to this. He did make mistakes but he repented and continued to trust the one who had called him.
My hope is in my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and I trust Him that it will remain so until the end.
